(OMC) is a Post-Conceptual Neo-Materialist art movement that emerged in the early 2020s. It’s a provocative and deeply ironic response to the digital age, economic anxieties, and the perceived “deflation” of grand artistic narratives.

Core Philosophy and Tenets

The movement’s central, and often paradoxical, idea is that the true “masterpiece” (the Opus Magnum) of the modern era is the very tool designed for prevention and containment—the condom.

1. The Masterpiece of Prevention: OMC artists assert that in a world saturated with information, reproduction, and excess, the highest artistic act is not creation, but prevention and curation. The condom, a vessel of contained potential and a symbol of deliberate choice, becomes the ultimate ready-made, an icon of responsible, non-reproductive, and finite creation.

2. Neo-Materialist Anxiety: The movement rejects the immaterial nature of digital art and cryptocurrency. OMC works are intensely physical and often involve the mass collection, sculpting, or arrangement of actual latex or similar prophylactic materials. This abundance of material reflects a critique of overproduction and disposable consumerism, ironically using a disposable item to create something ‘lasting.’
